This recently established orchestra is the result of a merger between the Pirna Symphonic
Orchestra and the Saxon Elbland Philharmonic Orchestra. It plays at the theatre and the
cathedral
in the city of Meissen, St. Mary’s church in Pirna and Grossenhain
along the Saxon wine route. Every time the orchestra performs in Riesa,
it plays at the Stern City Concert Hall, the Trinity Church and once a
year in the facility hall of the Freyler Industrial Building.
The Neues Elbland Philharmonic Orchestra plays about 140 concerts a year focusing on
two
subscription series with sophisticated or entertaining symphonic works.
Added to that are a wide variety of concerts for schoolchildren and
families, performances of oratorios together with regional church
choirs right down to projects with contemporary music or special
concerts with local celebrity Tom Pauls and the gentlemen of the
Zwingertrio.
